We also asked Minister Musa about the Joint Public Accounts Committee, the J-PAC. He is a substantive member of the committee along with Julius Espat, Kevin Bernard, Dolores Balderamos Garcia, Hugo Patt, Kevin Herrera, Elena Smith and Janelle Chanona. There have been at least four meetings since the J-PAC was established and Minister Musa has not attended those meetings. So today, we asked him why.
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “I wasn’t even aware that there was a JPAC meeting so there has to be a notice that is sent to me. I have not received any notice of any JPAC meeting but you can best believe if I receive a notice I will attend. But, I have not gotten any notice of a meeting.”
Hipolito Novelo, Love FM News: And you haven’t attended any that have happened recently?
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “No because I have not received any notice.”
Reporter 2: There have been four. There have been four since this administration, four working meetings since this administration took over.
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “Well what I have to inquire, Marisol, because from my knowledge, it was Kevin Bernard, Minister Bernard, who was substituting for me. I think he was appointed to the JPAC. So as far as I’m aware, and if you look back at the time it was constituted, I was not there. To my knowledge, he was the one who had substituted me and I have not received any notices since so perhaps that’s the reason why I haven’t gotten notices because he took my place?”
