Minister of National Security says crime decreased in August

The Ministry of National Security says crime for the month of August decreased by twenty seven percent compared to July.  While July saw one hundred and thirty seven crimes reported, August saw only a hundred such crimes reported.  Minister John Saldivar met today (VO STARTS)  with the country’s security forces, the Belize Police Department, the Belize Defense Force and the Belize Coast Guard in order to discuss the state of crime in Belize. He congratulated all officers for their outstanding efforts in capturing the recent drug plane and for their exceptional work done in the month of August. The Minister encouraged the Senior Command to continue motivating those in leadership positions to maintain and improve these results, while continuing to abide by their oath as law enforcement officers. He also encouraged all leaders to continue working towards recognizing and weeding out the few officers who wish to taint the name of law enforcement.
