With only four days left on the National Celebrations Calendar, Minister of Cutlure, Francis Fonseca reported that he is very much satisfied with this year’s events and participation. As he delivered the opening of today’s State of the Nation address, Fonseca gave a rundown of the September events successfully executed.
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education: “This year’s celebrations have been filled with hope, enthusiasm, excitement, and deep patriotism. In every city, town, and village, our communities are proud to showcase their love for Belize. We have paid tribute to our Belizean patriots with a very beautiful ceremony organized by the cabinet secretary at the foot of the Haulover Bridge in Belize City. We have honored seven recipients of the Creative and Cultural Excellence Awards. We have heard from our young Belizeans at the Creative Youth Summit. We enjoyed and danced to the wonderful music created by our Belizean musicians for the National Song Competition. We embraced change and enjoyed a magnificent, peaceful carnival where patriotism, culture and good vibes were on full display. And of course we were once again captivated by the pulsating rhythm of the steel pan at Pan Yaad 2024. And on Sunday evening at Fordyce Chapel on the Landivar campus of SJC, we celebrated a beautiful service in honor of our National Day of Prayer. God has truly blessed our beloved Belize. We must always be grateful and give thanks.”
