The exiled Director of Health Services, Dr Marvin Manzanero has reportedly declined an offer from the Minister of Health, Michel Chebat to take on one of the two recently approved positions within the ministry. A few weeks ago, the Senate ratified several Public Health amendments that abolished the post of Director of Health Services and created two new positions, namely, Director of Public Health and Wellness and Director of Hospital Services and Allied Health. Weeks prior to the Senate’s ratification, Minister Chebat had reported that he was working on an exit package for Dr Manzanero. Today, however, he told the media that he was offering a new position to him.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness: “That matter is now with the Ministry of the Public Service. You know the laws came into effect on Friday the 12th of November and so that is now with the Ministry of the Public Service and that matter will be dealt with there. I did speak to him personally and I did offer him one of the director positions.”
Reporter: So what do you expect is going to happen ?
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness: “I suspect that the position has now become redundant and so I suspect that he’s gonna be offered the benefits of the years of service to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.”
Reporter: Pushed out ?
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness: “Not really. It’s a redundancy, it’s common in law.”
Love News understands that contrary to Minister Chebat’s statement, Dr Marvin Manzanero has not met with the minister since March 2021 and has not been offered any position up to news time this afternoon.
