In light of the recent drug plane landing involving security forces, yesterday Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation Kennedy Carrillo visited the air traffic controllers at the Department of Civil Aviation. The day’s agenda included a meeting where the regional director of COCESNA, Luis Ake to spoke on the collaborative efforts to heighten surveillance of the illicit aircraft activities in Belize’s airspace. In a previous interview Minister of National Defence and Border Security Florencio Marin Junior had talked about the need to secure Belize’s air space.

Hon. Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of National Defence and Border Security: “I just want to congratulate the teams who were able to successfully interdict the drugs that came in but I do have to be limited in my comments because it’s ongoing. We do have our air assets that are helpful, again those are things we don’t want to disclose publicly and we are working on improving our air assets as well but again for operational reasons we don’t comment publicly on those.”

CEO Kennedy was also accompanied by CEO in the Ministry of National Security Dario Tapia and CEO in the Ministry of Home Affairs Kevin Arthurs.
