Minister of Transport Provides Update on Floralia Bus Company Ruling

Meanwhile, as it relates to the Floralia Bus Company and the recent court ruling, Minister Ferguson explained that the matter has been sent to the Office of the Attorney General.  He did, however, weigh in on the ruling.

Rodwell Ferugson, Minister of Transport: “I don’t feel any way right now. The Attorney General is in full control so I will limit what I say about that judgment until he completes his process then I can go into the media or the call a press country or whatever you may want, and explain to the people exactly what happened.”

Reporter: Sir, is the government planning to appeal the court’s decision?
Rodwell Ferugson, Minister of Transport:“At this point in time, I say everything is in the hands of the AG. I will not preempt him. Whenever he comes to his final decision we will proceed from there. When I go to the press conference, because I know there was not much irregularity and my position is that I will improve the transportation industry in this country no matter what.”

In last week’s court ruling, the judge declared that the issuance of permits to Floralia did not apply fair play to the other bus lines.  According to Senior Counsel Dean Barrow, the permits, “have been declared null and void …. But, because the nullification of those permits will mean that there will be a void left when Floralia will have to cease running the judge said (that he) will stay the quashing order until 10th December to give the transport board and the industry a chance to wheel and come again.”
