Minister of Youth Addresses Disturbing Case of Sexual Abuse by Church Leader

One of the most disturbing angles of these cases of sexual abuse is that it was done by a leader in a space that was supposed to be safe.  All indications are that the victims were minors at the time of the abuse, and they all kept quiet out of fear and uncertainty.  It is a case that we have read about in international press, and we rarely ever hear in the news on a local level.  Minister of Youth, Rodwell Ferguson, spoke on the situation, saying it is unfortunate that cases such as could bring fear in parents and young persons.

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth: “In reality yes it is scary. Imagine that parents trust their young children, especially with these church leaders and then many, many years after, this is the result that we are hearing. I’m hopeful that they have a very successful case and then the judge will decide on the term of what will happen to the gentleman who they say commit this crime, to these children. But it’s very unfortunate, it is sad but I guess we are living in a world of sin, I assume.”
