Minister Usher Addresses Possibility of Leading PUP in the Future

Minister Usher also spoke to our newsroom about the possibility of leading the People’s United Party in the future. The discussion follows statements by Prime Minister John Briceno about leaving politics if he were to be elected for another term. Briceno stated that while the discussion is premature, he believes there are several suitable candidates to take over from him. We asked Usher if he felt open to that possibility. Here’s how he responded.

Henry Charles Usher, PUP Chairman: “Let us get through ’25 before we start to talk about ’30. But the Prime Minister has said that he continues to work up to the final day when he is an elected representative and he continues to serve. So that is what we work toward. He’s a leader we have to continue to try to keep up with. He’s somebody who works very hard, somebody who doesn’t take any breaks and it’s somebody that has really revolutionized the way that we are running an election the way the economy has turned around. He had said that he may, it’s not necessarily that he will so we have to make sure that we get through this election and we can talk about that another time.”
