Ministry Assures Teachers of Delayed Salaries by Tomorrow

After hearing the plight of several teachers and their delayed salaries, the Ministry of Education has issued a statement of reassurance.  According to the ministry, the majority of these teachers should collect their monies by the end of the day tomorrow.  Essentially, the ministry has chalked up the delay to an antiquated system that has been prone to delays, particularly if there is missing or incomplete paperwork.  The ministry’s calculations indicate that 122 teachers will see their delayed salaries this week.  Additionally, of the 87 cases presented by the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU), forty four of them will get their monies this week as well.  As for the other forty-three (43) teachers, twelve of them have since received their salaries with three of them attached to a different payment process, and four of them are scheduled to be paid in the next cycle.  Once these payments are made by tomorrow, 27 teachers will remain whose cases will require more time to address.
