Ministry Donates Hundreds of Water Meters to Rural Villages for Improved Access to Clean Water

Residents from several rural communities will now have water meters installed at their homes thanks to a donation from the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government. Yesterday, the ministry handed over 477 water meters and plumbing fixtures to water boards from villages in the Cayo, Stann Creek, and Toledo Districts. The equipment will allow the water boards to connect households in their community to rudimentary water systems. Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government, Oscar Requena spoke on how the donation will benefit the communities.

Chief Executive Officer Valentino Shal explained that since 2020, the ministry has assisted various water boards in increasing their revenues and self-sufficiency.

The equipment is valued at $123,000.
