Ministry Monitoring Canal Capacity

Ministry Monitoring Canal Capacity

Kindly be advise that the Ministry has its team monitoring the canal capacity and we also have the contractor on standby to remove the dam if needed after the storm has passed.

Based on our engineering assessment we don’t need to remove the dam at this time as the canal has demonstrated it has capacity to carry the flow at this time and runoff is flowing towards the Haulover Creek.

We have monitor the sluice gates at Conch Shell bay and also at Water lane and both are working good with runoff dissipating to the Haulover Creek.

These two outfalls are functioning well and no need for the residents at Yarborough to have concerns regarding flooding.

Engineers are monitoring the Collet canal and if the need arises after the hurricane has passed; we will remove the dam. At this time the canal is functioning well and flooding not expected at the Pump Station as a result of this section being closed.
