Ministry of Agriculture Enhances Post Harvest Management with Cold Storage Training

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is working with local farmers to improve the handling, storing, and transporting of local produce. Today, the ministry and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) concluded a two-day training on Post Harvest Management utilizing cold storage. The training was held under the ministry’s Management Belizean Agriculture Resilience (M-BAR) project at the Central Farm Station. Lead Consultant of M-BAR, Darrel Thompson, says the project aims to enhance technical expertise among farmers country-wide. 

National Correspondent of the FAO, Armando Aban, added that the goal of the project is to enhance food security and spoke about how the initiative came to be.

The participants of the training are tasked with sharing the techniques with farmers in their respective communities.
