Ministry of Agriculture Receives Support from Ministry of Economic Development

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Sustainable Development have received support from the Ministry of Economic Development to bolster its effectiveness. Yesterday, the Ministry of Agriculture received six motorcycles, desks, chairs, and laptops.  Also receiving a donation was the National Meteorological Service of Belize and the National Climate Change Office.  The MET Service received a contribution of equipment and human resources under the Sustainable and Inclusive Belize project. Meanwhile under the Digital Innovation to Boost Economic Development Project, the Vital Statistics Unit received a donation of IT hardware. Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Economic Development, Dr. Osmond Martinez, spoke about the projects and their goals.

Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise Jose Mai underscored the importance of the project and the need to strengthen the link between the agriculture and tourism sectors.

The projects are being funded through assistance from the International Development Bank. The bank’s Country Representative, Rocio Medina-Bolivar, says the organization felt it is important to support Belize in measures geared at improving the lives of its citizens.

The donation took place at the show grounds in Belmopan.
