The Ministry of Education and the Belize National Teachers’ Union (BNTU) along with the Managing Authorities of pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools have issued a joint statement. The statement surrounds yesterday’s meeting where critical issues were discussed such as teacher salaries, appointment processes, and professional development. Key commitments include ensuring timely salary payments, streamlining teacher appointments, providing financial support to pre-service teachers, and enhancing professional development opportunities through online courses and a renewed teacher recognition system. The statement also emphasizes the integration of technology into education, with a focus on training teachers to use AI for personalized learning experiences. To ensure accountability and continuous improvement, the Ministry and its partners have agreed to hold follow-up sessions twice a year to evaluate progress and address any concerns.
