Ministry of Education Partners with University of Belize for Sports Scholarships

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, has partnered with the University of Belize to support the school’s Varsity Sports Programme. Today the Ministry and the university signed a memorandum of understanding establishing over twenty scholarships for student athletes. Dr. Martin Cuellar, Dean of Student Affairs at UB, says that the parties have been working towards the MOU for several years, but were delayed by the pandemic. 

Cuellar said that, with the program being expanded in the next academic year, UB is hoping to attract top-level athletes to apply for scholarships.

Signing the agreement today was Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Francis Fonseca along with President of UB, Dr. Vincent Palacio.
