Ministry of Health releases death statistics for 2014-2018

There have been eight thousand nine hundred and eighty-five deaths in Belize from 2014-2018. According to a press release from the Ministry of Health the ten leading causes for deaths in Belize are heart diseases, Malignant Neoplasms, Diabetes, Assault, Unintentional injuries, Human Immunodeficiency virus, cerebrovascular diseases, Influenza and Pneumonia, Hypertension, and Chronic respiratory diseases.

There have been eight thousand nine hundred and eighty-five deaths in Belize from 2014-2018. According to a press release from the Ministry of Health the ten leading causes for deaths in Belize are heart diseases, Malignant Neoplasms, Diabetes, Assault, Unintentional injuries, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, cerebrovascular diseases, Influenza and Pneumonia, Hypertension, and Chronic respiratory diseases. The top leading causes of death in Belize are related to diabetes, cancers, and hypertension. In all three cases, poor eating and drinking habits, lack of physical activity and poor adherence to medication and treatment are major factors. For 2018 alone there were one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one deaths.
