Ministry of Health Reports Two Hundred Thirty Three New Cases of COVID-19

Belize today reported 233 new cases of COVID-19, taking active cases to two thousand two hundred and thirteen. There are 43 hospitalizations and 11 people are in the ICU. Of the total hospitalizations, twenty-nine of those people are unvaccinated, nine are fully vaccinated and five have gotten just the first shot. Of those in the ICU, six of them are unvaccinated. Meanwhile, most of today’s cases were tallied in Belize District, which includes the fifty-three cases in Belize City and seventeen on San Pedro Town. While the Stann Creek District had forty-five confirmed cases today, they were scattered over nine communities, including the twenty-one in Hope Creek and eight in Dangriga Town. In the rest of the country there were one hundred and four new cases including forty-two in Cayo District, the third highest nationwide. In terms of vaccinations, the latest data shows more than twenty-four thousand people between 12 and 17 years old have gotten their shot. One hundred ninety-four thousand people have had at least the first jab while one hundred twenty-seven thousand five hundred and eight people are fully vaccinated.
