The Ministry of Health’s daily COVID-19 report is showing a decrease in the number of active Covid-19 among the nation’s populists. The report’s cut-off time is one p.m. today and includes the new cases uncovered over a 24-hour period. Claudette Dakers Norales of the Public Relations Unit in the ministry presented the nation’s cumulative data.
Claudette Dakers Norales, Public Relations Unit, Ministry of Health and Wellness: “A total of 552 samples were tested. Out of this 16 samples have resulted positive for COVID-19. There are 267 individuals newly under investigation. There are 17 new recoveries to report. Today we also report that 9 infected persons are hospitalized. Unfortunately three of these individuals are being treated at the intensive care unit. There are no deaths to report. The cumulative report we are presenting is from March 2020 when we had our first case. The new total of active cases now stands at 168. These are those persons who have been confirmed and are within the time frame to transmit the virus. To date 79,268 sample have been tested nationally. Out of this 121,207 samples have resulted positive for COVID-19. A total of 314 deaths have been reported but we are pleased to report that there are 11,725 total recoveries. The heat map shows the districts mostly affected. The greatest number of cases are seen in Stann Creek, Belize and Cayo districts. Stann Creek reported seven new cases with Independence responsible for all seven cases. Belize district reported four new cases with Belize City responsible for three of those cases. Cayo district reported three new cases with Roaring Creek responsible for two of those cases. Orange Walk and Toledo each reported one new case. Corozal reported no new case.”
The most recent data from the Ministry of Health indicates that the Stann Creek and Belize District are where the majority of Covid-19 cases have been detected.
