Tonight, residents of Gales Point Manatee Village can breathe a sigh of relief because the Briceno Administration has heeded to their concerns. Last year, the residents took a stand against a foreign a company that was reportedly seeking to mine fifteen thousand acres of land near the village’s lagoon. The company had requested to purchase the parcels of land but were waiting on an Environmental Impact Assessment before moving forward. However, Minister of Natural Resources, Cordel Hyde says that the company has been informed that their operations in the village will be discontinued.
