Ministry of Public Utilities announces the winner of its high school video competition

 The Ministry of Public Utilities and Energy has announced the winners of its short video high school competition that was launched back in November 2022 under the theme “Our Future is Electric”. The first place winner was Nayzia Wagner from Eden High School in Cayo, second place winners were Ethan Castillo, Sofia Victoria de Paz, Ka’im Guerra, and Issis Lima from the Our Lady of Guadalupe in Belmopan, and the third place winner was Lakhita Daswani a student from St. Catherine Academy. The competition sought to raise awareness among students and educational institutions on the importance of climate action and sustainable energy transitioning and to probe interest in the Belize Sustainable Energy developments. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Education and fully funded by the European Union under the 11th EDF agreement with the GOB to support sustainable developments in the Energy Sector. A total of 9 submissions from 5 high schools across the country were submitted.
