In an effort to reduce the number of wildfires affecting the country, the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Management is reminding the public of the dos and don’ts of the dry season. The ministry notes that during the season dry vegetation can become flammable and trigger a wildfire. The ministry and its departments are strongly recommending that if persons must burn during the dry season, all necessary precautions must be taken. For a list of adequate measures persons can visit the ministry’s Facebook or the Department of the Environment‘s website. Report uncontrolled forest fires to the Forest Department at 822-1524 or at any of the district offices or the Fire Department at Emergency Number 990.
