Another key program that was a part of today’s discussion led by the Department of Youth Services (DYS), was the Strengthening Government Engagement and Educational Service Delivery (SEEDS) project. The project is a partnership with the Department of Youth Services (DYS) and the Non-Governmental Organization Humana People to People. Its main goal is to enhance civil society and government partnership to improve government service delivery. Under the project, the DYS has been able to establish two digital youth Hubs in the south of the country to improve its connectivity and youth engagement in rural areas. Minister of Youth Rodwell Ferguson says the hubs that have been opened in the villages of Big Falls and in Independence will greatly impact young people in the south.
Director of the DYS, Kevin Cadle also spoke about the importance of these hubs and how they were implemented with the assistance of its project partner, Humana People to People, and the US Embassy in Belize.
The SEEDs project is funded by the US Embassy through its Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI) grant.
