Minor shot twice but has several stories

The country is celebrating Children’s Day today but one Belize City kid found himself in police guard while suffering from two gunshot wounds. The Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, Joseph Myvett says the 16-year-old minor could not keep a straight story as to where he was, or who he was with when he was shot.

ACP MYvette: “A sixteen year old minor visited the Western Regional Hospital with gunshot injuries to his left calf as well as his left heel and he gave several different accounts of how he was shot: The first is that he was shot in the vicinity of of a National Bank at the entrance of Belmopan City and on a secondary interview he reported that he was shot somewhere in Roaring Creek Village. This 16 year old minor is of a Belize City address and he is detained under Police guard at the Western Regional Hospital.”

Jose Sanchez: Do you believe he may have been related to any of the incidents in the area?”

ACP Joseph Myvette: “That is apart of the investigation and as well he is of a Belize City address and could not give account of where exactly he was shot in Roaring Creek and those persons who he claim to have been with in Roaring Creek , he could not identify them.”

And in unrelated news about minors on Children’s Day, another sixteen year old, this one a resident of San Pedro Town, was arrested and charged for murder and aggravated assault in the presence of his mother. The minor was charged for the murder of Cyril Jones and the aggravated assault of Marlon Hinds which occurred on November 13, in the San Pedrito Area of San Pedro Town.
