Misinformation spreads as Troy Gabb is not heading the Public Services Commission

A storm of misinformation began circulating today that Troy Gabb now heads the Public Services Commission (PSC). Love News has confirmed that the Government Gazette notice referred to a temporary appointment for a single meeting while Chairperson Diana Price-Murillo was on medical-related leave. The commission required an acting chairperson for that meeting, and the appointment had to be approved by the Governor General. Gabb remains a member of the commission, while Price-Murillo remains its substantive chair. The clarification comes as the Public Service Union issued a release today objecting to Gabb’s appointment as acting chairperson, which was published in the Gazette Extraordinary of July 23, 2026.  The union argues that Gabb’s public commentary raises concerns about his impartiality. It accuses him of expressing hostility toward trade unions, opposing the PSU’s positions and being sharply critical of public officers. Those are the union’s characterizations of Gabb, who is a weekly commentator on Love FM.  The PSU says confidence in the commission is essential because it determines appointments, promotions and disciplinary matters involving public officers. It has also stated that it does not support Gabb’s reappointment when his current term ends in November and has written to Public Service Minister Henry Charles Usher outlining its concerns.  While the union’s objections extend to Gabb’s continued membership, Love News’ confirmation is that the acting appointment was for one meeting. There has been no replacement of Diana Price-Murillo as chairperson.
