The date has already been set for the 2019 Miss Universe Belize pageant. Today marks the start of the journey for 8 beautiful ladies, as they were revealed to the press, and the public, earlier today. Love News reporter, Courtney Menzies, was there to meet them.
Courtney Menzies: “Last year Jenelli Fraizer rocked the Miss Universe Belize stage. She then went on to represent the jewel at the Miss Universe Competition in Thailand. For the past year, Jenelli has been making our country proud and in September she will be giving the crown to another young lady who will be taking the international stage. Today the media got to meet eight beautiful contestants.”
Destiny Wagner – Contestant: “I am twenty-three years old and I am from Punta Gorda Belize. I think I would make a fabulous Miss Universe Belize Contestant because I love my country very much and I am very passionate about my community. I would love to use this as an opportunity to spread awareness about my country’s disparities such as mental health and child hunger.”
Aarti Sooknandan – Contestant: “I am so happy to be in the pageant. Right now what I think makes me a good contestant is my passion for marketing. I am currently pursuing my MBA at Novasaki Student University in Fort Lauderdale and my passion for marketing really drives my ability to speak publicly as well as my skills for promotions has allowed me to have a great deal of experience with brand management. What that does is allow me to promote not only products and ideals but also the values and ideals of my country and I really feel like I can do that on a global stage, that is something I am really excited to even get the opportunity to do.”
Ryeann Smith – Contestant – I decided to participate to show different young ladies that you don’t have to be the richest, with the lightest of skin, with the straightest of hair to be a beauty queen. Once you believe in yourself and you have that confidence I believe you should be able to do whatever it is that you set your mind to and that is what I want to show to all these young ladies, also, I would like to continue the journey that Ms. Jenelli started. She did a fantastic job so I would like to do what she started and put Belize out there on an international market to the world.”
Tianney Lamb – Contestant: “What made me come up on stage, that is not an easy question to answer just like that especially for the fact that I am not a pageant person but what I would like to say to people who aren’t a pageant person like myself is that you have to believe in yourself first so that was what made me come on stage. I felt that I had the courage to believe in myself and I felt as if this was something that I could do even if you don’t win it is just to enjoy.”
Markeisha Young – Contestant: “I decided to join the pageant to prove to people that no matter what you look like, no matter where you come from, no matter what background you have, as long as you know what you want to do you hold your head up high, remain humble while still being confident then the sky’s the limit from there.”
Destinee Arnold – Contestant: “As some of you may know I am not a stranger to pageantry but Belize finally has the Miss Universe license and it would be my honor to be able to represent our beautiful country on that stage and take our pageantry in Belize to a different level.”
Vivian Noralez – Contestant: “I am representing San Pedro, it has been three years since San Pedro has been on the Miss Belize stage so I feel very honored to represent us once again. Not only do I feel honored, it’s a huge responsibility because I also have a huge load on my back, a lot of weight to carry on my shoulders because I know my town, they love pageants and they have been looking forward to having a San Pedrana on stage again.
Courtney Menzies: “The final contestant is Joseline Serin a twenty-five-year-old Belizean who is currently studying cosmetology in Mexico. The outgoing Miss Universe Belize Janelli Fraser told us that she sees a lot of promise in this year’s contestants.”
Jenelli Friaser – Miss Universe Belize: “I can see the excitement but the fear as well because this is a big position. Like I mentioned in a previous interview the weight is on your shoulders for representing your country but I trust and believe that they are excellent delegates and I can’t wait for you guys to see them. I think one of the things that was very important for me was letting them know as soon as you are revealed that whatever life you were living in the past, it is now over because you have become a role model and you want to be the next Miss Belize Universe and so it is extremely important to conduct yourself in a respectable manner and respect people as well.”
Courtney Menzies: “The Miss Universe Belize Pageant will be held at the Civic Center in Belize City on September 6th at 8 pm. Reporting for Love News I am Courtney Menzies.
Tickets for the pageant can be bought at Pink Boutiques around the country, namely Belize City, San Pedro, and San Ignacio. /////////
