Missing Teen Found Safe in Guinea Grass Village

Lizzie Yamilet Suntecum, the 13-year-old student reported missing on Monday, has been found. After days of panic by the family, with the assistance of police, Suntecum was found late last night in Guinea Grass Village in the Orange Walk District. Family members told Love News that, through the support of the public, they managed to gather surveillance footage, which showed her traveling in a white pickup truck. This footage assisted Suntecum’s father in locating her and leading the police to where she was. The family says that the teen was found in the company of her grandaunt. Police Staff Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith said that Suntecum and the two adults who had taken her are in police custody pending directives from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Stacy Smith, Senior Superintendent of Police: “On Wednesday 18th June 2025 at approximately 11:00pm police visited a residence in Guinea Grass Village Orange Walk district where Lizzy Suntecum, a 13 year old student of Guatemala nationality was located. Suntecum who attends a school in the Cayo district was reported missing on Monday 16th June 2025 after she had not returned for the afternoon session of her classes. Police have since placed Suntecum who is in apparent good health in the care of the Department of Human Services. Three persons have been detained in connection to this incident and a file will be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for their directives.”
