Elaine Berry, Cayo Correspondent: A swearing in ceremony was held at the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council for the five People’s United Party councilors that were elected on Wednesday March 3rd.
Aaron Albert Mai, San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town Councilor: “I’ve been very humbled to have been elected on March 3d and today on March 5th we’ve been sworn in as the new councilors for San Ignacio and Santa Elena and we’re ready to serve along with all councilors and the mayor and we definitely look forward to working for the twin towns. We want to have community involvement, we want to have public consultations , you want to have accountability and transparency and we were elected through democracy so we definitely to work for the people because they’re the ones that put me here so we need to definitely be one and united. It’s not about politics anymore it’s about the citizens of the twin towns and we look forward to working with the newly elected area reps from November 11th.”
