Mobile Land Clinic Assists Residents of Dangriga with Long-Standing Land Matters

Dozens of residents from the culture capital were assisted with long-standing land matters today through a mobile land clinic held by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The two-day initiative was a partnership between the Minister of Natural Resources Cordel Hyde and Area Representative Dr. Louis Zabaneh. Zabaneh spoke to our newsroom about the venture and the success it has seen in his constituency. 

Dr.Louis Zabaneh, Dangriga Area Representative: “Yesterday alone we saw over 150 and this has to do with three areas where you have communities that have developed and you’ve had some squatting issues etc. and we’re trying to ensure that we are able to help these families to finally get titles to their land.”

Reporter: This is within Dangriga? 
Dr.Louis Zabaneh, Dangriga Area Representative:“Within Dangriga, yes. And then of course we have others within the constituency as well, Sarawee and Hope Creek that we’re also trying to work out. You know certainly this has been a hallmark of our Plan Belize manifesto where we go and serve our people, led of course by our Prime Minister, John Briceño, Deputy Prime Minister, Cordel Hyde. This is what we stand for in the People’s United Party, going into the community, serving our people, resolving issues that have been there for decades, and we are ensuring that we take the time. This is critical that we take the time and listen to our people and work out these difficult situations that they might be in. But that’s what we were elected for to come and solve problems and I’m very honored and proud to be a part of this team who takes our responsibilities very serious and that’s what we do day to day.” 

It was the third land clinic held in the constituency since 2020. Since taking office, the Briceno Administration has held clinics in various communities and assisted citizens in obtaining land titles and other important documents.
