MOHW Reports Forty Eight New Cases of COVID-19

With less than a week to go before Christmas, active cases of COVID-19 stand at four hundred and twenty-eight. Over the weekend, there were forty-eight new cases, one hundred and twenty-seven recoveries and unfortunately two fatalities. However, active cases continue to reflect a downturn overall. Both the head and deputy head of the KHMH’s COVID-19 unit, Casilda Bowman and Javier Brito said that this downturn is opening opportunities for them to prepare for another surge.

Belize has recorded five hundred and ninety-one deaths over the span of 21 months. Thus far, eleven people are hospitalized, which includes four people in the ICU. There are sixty other people still under investigation. Most of the case reported were in the Belize District, which had twenty-seven. Twenty of those cases were in Belize City.
