There are three new COVID-19 related deaths this evening and ninety-four newly confirmed cases. According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the new cases have brought the total number of active infections to five hundred thirty-three. The cases reported are from a batch of one thousand three hundred forty-one tests, with two hundred sixty-four samples under investigation. Of the new cases reported this evening, thirty-one are in the Belize District, including twenty-six cases in Belize City. Across the rest of the country, all the districts except for Corozal and Orange Walk saw double-digit cases with twenty-one cases in all of the west, thirty-one in the entire south, and ten in the north. Notably, phase five of the ministry’s vaccination plan continues with two thousand four hundred twenty people receiving either their first or second dose of the vaccine yesterday. A total of one hundred forty-three thousand twenty-two Belizeans have received their first dose of the vaccine, while fifty-seven thousand four hundred ninety-eight have been fully vaccinated.
