The Ministry of Health and Wellness is continuing its vaccination drive nationwide. According to the most recent statistics, two thousand seven hundred seventy-seven Belizeans received the jab on Friday. One hundred twenty-one thousand four hundred eighty-seven people have been vaccinated with forty-six thousand five hundred ninety-six people being fully vaccinated. Up to Friday, almost one hundred twenty thousand people have received the jab and more than forty-five thousand Belizeans are fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, Belize recorded sixty-six new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. Unfortunately, there is one more casualty to report, bringing the national death toll to three hundred thirty-three. The good news is that there are three dozen Belizeans who have recovered from the coronavirus but there are three people who remain in hospital, including one in the ICU. There are one hundred eighty-one samples under investigation but worryingly, there are three hundred seventy-seven active cases. Of the new cases reported today, thirty-four of them were recorded in the Belize District, which includes twenty-three in Belize City alone. Another seventeen cases were reported in Toledo, sixteen of which are in Santa Elena Village. Twelve new cases have emerged in the Cayo District, more than half of which are in the municipalities of Belmopan and San Ignacio. In the entire north, there were only two cases, both of which were in Orange Walk District while there was only a single case recorded in Stann Creek in the small village of Sarawee.
