MOHW Works On Improving Central Medical Stores

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is also planning on housing all medical supplies and pharmaceuticals in a new Central Medical Store. Health Minister, Kevin Bernard, says that this new store will also come with an updated inventory system that will be used to manage and monitor the distribution of medicine and supplies. He says this will promote better accountability for the supplies that they have as well as create a safer work environment for the medical personnel.

Hon. Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness: “The way Central Health Region was that’s a building that is going to have caused a disaster so we had to get our people out there. We have to protect the rights of our employees as well and the safety of the people who visit that place and so it was the reason why we had to move out these persons. Now what will the ministry propose ? Of course we are proposing to – we don’t want to continue to rent for the rest of our lives. I personally believe that it’s a government property, it’s a government space and we are going to be putting out proposals whether it is through government or whether we seek funding outside for grant or whatever alternative we can come up with but we have been doin the study and we’re looking at trying to see how we could build a proper central region where we can then relocate there. That’s not going to be immediate because we have to put all the plans together but it is a commitment by this ministry. MY CEO and directors they have been discussing this and we are aware of the situation.”
