Queen Elizabeth the Second will be laid to rest on Monday September 19th. A state funeral will be held. The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II arrived back at Buckingham Palace this morning. Hundreds of thousands are expected to wait hours for an opportunity to see the queen’s coffin later this week as it lies in state at Westminster Hall. The Queen will lie in state until Monday. That day will be observed as a national holiday in Belize. Late this evening an official release from the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries reads (quote) The Cabinet advises the general public on Monday, September 19, 2022, the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second will be held in the United Kingdom. In Belize, the 19th day of September 2022 will be observed as a one-time public and bank holiday.” (end of quote) This public and bank holiday coincides with National Service Day which will stand to be observed as a day of service. Belize is not the only country which is doing so. Several members of the commonwealth have decided to make September 19 a National Holiday.
