More than 200 new cases of COVID-19 today, says MOHW

Active COVID-19 infections stand at 1,444 after more than 200 new cases were recorded today. The Ministry of Health and Wellness says that there were 224 new infections tallied today and that was partially offset by 108 recoveries. Of the new cases reported today, more than 56 percent or 126 cases are in the Belize District. Ninety of those cases were tallied here in Belize City alone. Another 47 infections were reported in Cayo District, which includes 16 in Belmopan and 11 in San Ignacio. The southern districts combined had 23 infections while there were 20 in the entire north. The Ministry notes that there are 367 people under investigation. There were no deaths reported but since the pandemic began, 678 Belizeans have lost their lives to the coronavirus. Tonight, three people remain in the hospital.
