History is being made in Belize with the construction of a mosque. A mosque is a place of worship for Muslims, but more than that, it is also a place of peace. The Ahmadiyya Jama’at community in Belize will be having the groundbreaking tomorrow. The national president, Imam Naveed Mangla, told us the importance of such a building in Belize.
Imam Naveed Mangla,Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at: “The purpose of the Mosque has been described in this one verse which is on the banner and the translation is that “All places of worship belong to Allah so call not only anyone besides Allah.” Allah means God the almighty. This mosque, the construction will be starting from tomorrow, the foundation stone of this mosque will be laid tomorrow and this is located on the Western Highway Phillip Goldson Highway at 2 miles and the property itself is about 1.28 acres but only .9 which is one acre will be utilized and we have the rest of the property kept for the future; the phase two could be for the school which we wish to build or maybe a big community center, that is yet to be decided but in this particular building it will be on the main floor will be a place of worship which will be able to occupy about 200 worshipers. Then we have four small Minarets and one dome which could be seen in this picture behind me and over there on my right also. Then it has one missionary residence and and office and it has parking space of 16 cars. So like I mentioned this is just the first phase of it and we wish to build more things here in Belize not only in Belize City but wherever our missions in Belize are established. We have been staying here for the past three years or so and this was a rented unit so we will be giving it back and the building we have purchased now with the property is the very first property that the Ahmadiyya Jama’at has purchased and yes the headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Jama’at will eventually move over there.”
Other visiting presidents also commented on the significance of the mosque.
Lal Khan Malik, National President, Ahmadiyyah Jama’at: “Opening of a mosque in Belize is good news for all of us because the purpose of the mosque is not only to worship God but to bring about peace in the society. Every person who goes to worship in a mosque becomes an ambassador of peace because we believe in our motto which is Love for All, Hatred for None.”
Imam Inrahim Bin Yaqub: “I personally congratulate the Jama’at here in Belize and the people of Belize. This is my second visit. I was here in January, it’s not yet a year and I have come back again and the Belizean people are very beautiful people indeed because I could see the traces of Africanism in them where I come from as far as Ghana is concerned our people are loving, peaceful, dedicated in everything.”
It will be located next to Leslie’s Imports on the George Price Highway.
