Mother of ten seeking bail for allegedly handling stolen goods

The mother of ten who was sent to jail for 21 days after being found with one stolen tablet is hoping to get bail by the end of this week. 30-year-old Sherisa Reneau remains behind bars while her attorney Oscar Selgado had filed a bail application in the Supreme Court. The bail hearing will be held on Friday in Belize City. Initially we reported that Reneau had six children, but upon visiting her home today we found that she is the mother of ten children. We spoke to one of the woman’s children, 20-year-old Keyoshi Reneau who stated that this incident has left the family distraught especially for the toddlers who are frequently asking for their mother. RENEAU TABLET UP IN OUT Reneau was sent to the Belize Central Prison by Magistrate Stephanie Gillett after Police searched her home on Sunday on Ross Pen Road and found one of the tablets that were stolen from Sadie Vernon High School. She explained to the court that she bought the tablet in the box from a man unknown to her. ////

Keyoshi Reneau, Daughter of Sherisa Reneau: “I ended up going to my mom Sunday when I got here because they said police took my mom, for what I didn’t know until my auntie told me that police took my mom because of a tablet that they found. We were waiting until four on Sunday evening for a CIB officer to come that would determine whether she would have been charged or not and then like after four the evening they said they would charge her and then they were at the station until then Monday we went to court and they said that they would not be giving her bail. So that’s about it right there and they went to jail at three o’clock the evening. It really makes a solid impact on us because my little sister, the baby, was asking for my mom yesterday before my auntie came for her and then I told her mommy wasn’t here and then from there she came and started crying. It really hurt us because how are you just going to charge somebody for a tablet that is stolen otherwise they have more than one tablet that is stolen and one tablet like the lady that had three that they found but they didn’t send her to jail so why did my mom who only had one tablet get sent to jail just like that ? That’s not fair.”
