News reports, vile videos and a sea of public opinion have centered around the torture of a 16-year-old on Friday night in the Conch Shell Bay area in Belize City. As if the videos did not anger the viewers enough, the subsequent leak of a video of the minor being questioned by Police may have just caused that anger to boil over. The video shows the child being examined by a Police officer in a hostile and insensitive manner, possibly doubling the child’s trauma he had sustained for hours inside the house. In an exclusive interview yesterday with the child’s mother, she told Love News that she will be seeking legal recourse against the Police.
Mother of Minor: “I had to go see the COMPOL because when they found my so they didn’t take my son to the hospital after all my son had gone through, those police took my son straight to the station and roughed him up and my son was frightened you could see it in his face my son was still traumatized and they didn’t take my son to get any medical attention. They took my son to the station and they just roughed him up and then they called me – they found my son 2am and they called me 3:30 and my son was telling them that his brother lived around the lane to get adults with him and they didn’t bring any adult to my son. They did all of those things to my son without medical attention and without an adult present and I need justice for that because then my son is innocent and is a minor and I feel hurt that the police did that to my son after all that my son had gone through.”
