Mother’s Desperate Plea: Belize City Woman Seeks Help in Locating Missing Eighteen-Year-Old Son

A Belize City mother is making a desperate plea to the public to assist in locating her son. Forty-one-year-old Earlette Geban told Love News today that she has not seen or heard from eighteen-year-old Jeremy Westby in days and now fears the worst. Westby left his Tibruce Street home in the company of a family friend on Tuesday, but concerns were raised when he did not return home and did not contact them. Geban says that the situation is even more disheartening since she has not gotten any information from the police after she reported her son missing.

Earlette Geban, Mother, Jeremy Westby: “He left to go around the lane to buy and he did not return the Tuesday night. The following morning he did not return I sent messages to him and he has not answered. I went to make a missing persons report Wednesday afternoon around eleven. I mentioned to them of the person that he left with, a very close family friend. He was on another friend’s bike he already got back his bike and the person went home the bike is home but my son has not returned as yet. I haven’t heard anything from the police in regards to the matter. With all that’s happening my son he’s not one to venture out without telling me where he’s going or if he does go out I know where he is and when he’s going to come back in. He sends me a voice clip or tells me what time he’s going to be back. If he sleeps out at one of his cousin’s, because he doesn’t hang out because of all the things that have been happening in the back here, so when he does go to his family member he would say “Mom I’m going to be home.” and before I leave for work in the morning he will be here. I haven’t eaten for three days. I haven’t slept. I haven’t given up hope but what I am begging for is that if they do or if they did do something to my son all I want to do is find him. I know it’s in God’s hand. I believe in the power of God so all I’m asking is that they let me bury my son if they have done anything to him or if something has happened to him if you see him or know his whereabouts if you can just reach out to me. My number is on the Facebook post that I posted since he has gone missing. I am begging the police to do their job in regard to getting anything, any leads, any information that they are getting if you have information contact Crime Stoppers. I really really need to find me son. He’s the youngest of my boys. He is my baby and I really really miss him and want him to come home.”

And while there are unconfirmed reports that Westby’s disappearance may be linked to the commission of a crime, Geban is adamant that her son was not a troublemaker. She said that he mostly stayed home, and she preferred it that way, to keep him out of trouble.

Earlette Geban, Mother, Jeremy Westby: “My son i not a gang member. He is not affiliated with any gangs. Like I said everything that is happening is all hearsay. There hasn’t been any police, noone has been to my house in regards to any investigation of anything that he has done or he’s been involved in. My son stayed at their home. Yes we have friends that come here and hang out with my sons but they’re not affiliated with anyone that says they are bad boys. They do mischievous things. He would drink, he would go out with his brothers, he would come back but to be involved in any shooting or anything malicious towards people that’s no my son. And I’m not saying that because I’m swearing for my son but I have an open communication and I pride myself in letting them know that God is watching over all of us and God will determine the outcome of everyone and they value life hence the reason my sons don’t go anywhere. He’s always here. If he has visitors and that’s the reason why he trusted that person that he went with because everyone they eat here, they sleep here because I don’t want my son out in the environment. So everyone comes here so most of the friends that they hang out with or they talk to I know. The reason why I trust this area is because I grew up here. I was literally from I was a little girl I grew up here and so I know most of the people that live around here. So if they’re saying that he was involved in something it’s new to me. If he was threatened he would have told me. The police have accessed his Facebook page, his messenger page, there isn’t any threats there, he isn’t involved in anything when it comes to harming or hurting anyone.”

Geban added that Westby had recently been getting his police record and other documents in order, as he was looking for a job. Anyone with knowledge of Westby’s whereabouts can reach her at 607-2314.
