On Friday night, three people were injured in a road traffic accident on the Philip Goldson Highway. According to the police, around 7 o’clock, 53-year-old, Bernhard Schmitt and his wife were traveling in a pickup truck toward Belize City when he suddenly saw a white object near mile 39. Schmitt says he attempted to avoid hitting the object but was unable. Schmitt then collided with the back of a tanker towed by a tractor driven by 34-year-old Walter Castillo. The pickup truck was extensively damaged, and its pan was detached while the tractor landed in nearby bushes. Schmitt and his wife both received minor injuries, while Castillo was transported to the KHMH for medical attention. Police say Castillo’s tractor didn’t have lights or indicators and was not licensed or insured. Police investigations continue.
