Earlier today, Mayors, administrative staff, City Council members and even Caye Caulker Chairperson gathered to gain an understanding of the legal and administrative dynamics of the Belize City Municipal (Magistrate) Court’s management and operations. City councils are entrusted to increase citizen compliance and improve the overall safety of the people in their area. At today’s session, the Department of Local Government aimed to expand the establishment of municipal courts with shared knowledge to do just that. The advancement of these courts will strengthen the local governance which will inevitably transform urban communities across Belize. There was a presentation by Magali Marin Young, Attorney General and they noted that the department will be holding more consultation sessions with other relevant stakeholders to educate all parts of the country.
