Murder Case Adjourned: Accused’s Mental State Questioned in Pound Yard Killing

The 2020 murder case for William Rubio has been adjourned once more as the mental state of the accused is being questioned. 53-year-old, Shedrack Richard White, who has been on remand for 3 years and 5 months, appeared in the High Court today where he was represented by Attorney Norman Rodriguez. A competency hearing for White was conducted to determine whether he was fit to stand trial for murder. 2 witnesses were called to the stand. The first witness was Psychiatrist for the Ministry of Health, Doctor Matus who says that after conducting 2 evaluations on white, he concluded that he was suffering from Schizophrenia and therefore based on the British trial criteria, he is not fit to stand trial. The other witness on the stand was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Kolbe Foundation, Virgilio Murillo who says that White has committed at least 12 infractions stemming from various assault charges to his fellow inmates and prisoners including prison guards. Justice Candace Nanton decided to reserve her decision on White’s case for a later date to be announced and ordered a written report from CEO Murillo. The case goes back to 2020 when White was detained by police minutes after he was accused of inflicting stab wounds and killing William Rubio near the Pound Yard Bridge following an argument.
