Murder CompStat shows dip in gang areas.

Winning. That’s how the Commissioner of Police Chester Williams described the murder rate when comparing the statistics to the same quarter in previous years. Of the 31 murders so far, a shift had occurred in the suspected reasons as less were gang related. The Compol held a computer statistical or CompStat or meeting with regional commanders at the Police Training Academy in Belmopan this morning where he reviewed the areas that murders are occurring and also decreasing.

The Compstat maintains statistical data which is used as a management tool in reducing crime, improving procedures and training, and providing transparency to the public and government oversight agencies.  The Compol said that they need to replicate some of the strategy in other parts of the country.
