Murder Suspect Remanded in Caye Caulker Killing

The man accused of killing thirty-two-year-old Caye Caulker resident Leslie Verde, was arraigned in court today. Forty-four-year-old Juan Carlos Novelo, appeared before Magistrate Khianna Gordon charged with a single count of murder. No plea was taken from Novelo and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until January 24, 2024. Verde was found dead in her home on Saturday, with bruises around her neck. The chair person and residents of Caye Caulker have been calling for authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring whoever is responsible to justice.
