The murder trial against William ‘Danny’ Mason and his associates, Terrence Fernandez, Ashton Vanegas, Keiron Fernandez, and Ernest Castillo, resumed in the Belmopan Supreme Court today. The trial continued with a voir dire to determine if the caution statement from one of the accused will be taken in evidence. The caution statement is critical to the trial because it reportedly contains a confession from the accused murderer. The accused, however, claims that the statement was taken under duress. In court yesterday, three witnesses gave testimonies and five other witnesses gave theirs today. Three more witnesses were expected to take the stand this afternoon, but the trial was adjourned until tomorrow morning because an attorney experience a minor injury during lunch. The voir dire is expected to come to a close tomorrow and the trial is expected to conclude before the month ends. Terrence and Keiron Fernandez are being represented by Iliana Swift and Bryan Neal, respectively. Ashton Vanegas is represented by attorney Norman Rodriguez while Ernest Castillo is represented by Baja Shoman.
