National Bank of Belize and Community Policing Unit Team Up to Revamp School Cafeteria

Students at United Evergreen Primary now have their cafeteria up and running thanks to the National Community Policing Unit and the National Bank of Belize (NBB). The Bank donated the funds to repair the cafeteria while the building unit within the police department, headed by Sergeant Orlando Jimenez built the cafeteria. Commander of Community Policing, Howell Gillett says the initiative is to reduce future policing needs by keeping children in school.

Gillett added that they plan to work with NBB once more to assist another school in Belize City. Dyon Elliott, Head of Business Development, Marketing, and Strategy at NBB says that they plan to give back to the community as they continue to grow in revenue.

The total cost in material for the cafeteria was about 2,000. The cafeteria will be used for the school’s feeding program.
