National Forum Launched to Strengthen Community Healthcare

The Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with key partners, has officially launched its first-ever Community Health Workers National Forum, bringing together frontline health personnel from across the country.  The forum serves as a platform for community health workers to share their real, on-the-ground experiences from the communities they serve, many of which are remote and underserved. It also provides a space for open dialogue, allowing participants to highlight challenges within the healthcare system while proposing practical, community-driven solutions.  Community health workers are widely regarded as a vital link between Belize’s national health system and rural communities, often serving as the first, and sometimes only, point of contact for healthcare services. Their role is critical in ensuring that essential care reaches those who need it most.  The Ministry says the initiative is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery by listening directly to frontline workers and incorporating their insights into policy and planning.  The forum is being held in partnership with PAHO Caribbean and UNICEF Belize, both of which continue to support Belize’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare across the country.
