A tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to develop by Thursday or Friday out in the Southwest Caribbean Sea. It is the worst case scenario painted by the National MET Service as they confirmed this morning that they are keeping an eye on the potential formation of the weather system. According to our local weather experts, models suggest a potential for tropical cyclone development later this week. Up to news time, however, the chances of formation are measured as low, with near 0% probability over the next 48 hours and 30% within seven days. If a tropical depression or storm is formed, it is anticipated to move over Northern Nicaragua or Honduras, but is expected to weaken. The remnants of the story, however, would pass over Belize late Friday into Saturday, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall. The National MET Service emphasizes that the weather systems are not an exact science and forecasts are subject to change. It added that for now, there is no need to panic but getting prepared and remaining alert is key. Additionally, it is important to only pay keen attention to official sources and disregard the fake internet sites and social media pages.
