Chairman of the National Environmental Appraisal Committee (NEAC) has been asked to put a stop to all proceedings related to port developments in Belize. According to the Ports Commissioner Retired Major Lloyd Jones, they are looking to develop a National Port Policy that will serve as a guide on port developments. The letter to Martin Alegria, dated January 28, stated that the policy is being treated with urgency with a focus to declutter the port landscape and to provide sage advice to the Minister on the developments at the ports. The policy is expected to be concluded by June 2021.
