Naybaz Store Targeted by Thieves

Belize City police are investigating a robbery that place on Sunday afternoon on Bay Street. Around 3 o’clock, 25-year-old Marelie Mendez, a cashier at Naybaz store, was inside the establishment when a dark complexion man entered. The assailant removed several items from the store’s shelves and cooler and headed to the counter. The man grabbed Mendez and threw her to the ground and demanded that she handed over everything. The thief then stole $1,400 from the store’s cash register and safe and Mendez’s wallet containing $20 and her identification and bank cards. Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage; their investigation continues.
