The Ministry of Sports, in collaboration with the National Sports Council of Belize and the National Elite Basketball League (NEBL), has announced the official launch of the 2026 basketball season at a press conference held yesterday afternoon at the Belize Civic Center. In a move for Belizean sports, the conference also unveiled a historic championship prize of BZS100,000, a significant increase that highlights the league’s growing prestige and commitment to elevating the profile of local athletics. During the press conference, Minister of State in the Ministry of Sports Devin Daly gave us a breakdown of what’s different about this year’s NEBL season.
